Announcing the Morton’s List event of the year…

2009 Karmic Convergence, 1st Annual

MISSION
The Karmic Convergence is a first – an annual event spectacular, where Morton’s List players, old school veterans, new school n00bs, and random jerks off the street come together over five unforgettable days. It combines the best of all previous Morton’s List events in a public convention setting, with all the tactics, surprises and fun that you have come to expect wherever the Inner Circle forms and takes over.

WHEN
Wednesday, June 24th: 10am into the night.
Thursdays, June 25th: All day and night.
Friday, June 26th: All day and night
Saturday, June 27th: All day until 11pm.
After-tactics all night, going through Sunday day.

WHERE
Greater Ohio Convention Center
400 North High St
Columbus, OH, 43215 USA
(614) 827-2500

COST
All official events occur at the Origins Game Fair, which requires the purchase of a badge (see below). All Morton's List events can be paid ala carte, most of which are $2-4.
Attendees may also Volunteer (see below) which can allow you to attend for free.

Event Fees
$2 – 2 hour event
All are payable in cash or $2 Generic Tickets (available onsite) to the person running the event before in begins,
$30 – High Level Pass, allowing access to all Karmic Convergence events, Wed-Sat. A savings of $30!

Educator Badge: FREE – must be a teacher or have tactics
All badges grant access to all areas of the Karmic Convergence and Origins and allow ticketed game play for both events on the day(s) they are valid.

VOLUNTEERING
Morton’s List is not a spectator sport, and everyone at the Karmic Convergence is encouraged to run or help run at least one Quest/event. Everyone who volunteers in this way will be lent a powerful Morton’s Minions safety vest to wear. These identify volunteers as official SuperiCore Group representatives. There is a small $5 deposit, or you may waive the refund and keep your vest to have it signed by friends, use at home, enhance your personal safety, etc.

How to attend for FREE
Anyone wishing to sell Morton's List (and other merchandise) as an official representative of the SuperiCore Group for the weekend will be treated as a introductory Authorized Morton's List Dealer. This means you'll earn cash towards reimbursing your costs!

Each game sold = $10 towards your expenses

Selling a Morton's List box set is pretty simple - all you do is sign up to run or help out with one of the 20 Quests or other events and follow the simple instructions. These include when and how to pitch the game. Easy! You can also work alone or in teams to gather a few of the thousands of Origins or ComFest attendees to play Morton’s List and use the same instructions to make sales. After just a handful of sales and your weekend is paid for - even pay for your travel and/or accommodation expenses!

TRAVEL / LODGING
Attendees are encouraged to use Random Reality in their travel plans, such as RideShare.com or eRideShare.com.
Flying to Columbus is possible, but tends to be inconvenient and expensive as it is not an airline hub. Columbus is serviced by Amtrack.com and Greyhound.com.

This applies to accommodations, too.
CouchSurfing.com is a great resource to find cool, safe and fun people to stay with for free.
For those with trust funds or jobs, here’s a list of attached and area hotels: https://www.originsgamefair.com/2009-origins/attend/hotels

EVENTS

Summary

Wednesday: Six Quests, where you can enjoy playing Morton’s List in mixed groups, and one seminar, Random Reality 101: Diceliving, Morton's List and more!. After parties and random tactics? It all starts Wednesday, and doesn't stop until everyone collapses.

Thursday: Six more Quests, building up to the first round of the first annual Morton's List Grande Master's Kumite. This tournament pits groups of players against each other in a scored, team-based Morton’s List Quest competition to find the best Morton's List players of 2009.

Friday: Begins with three Quests, then the seminar, Start, Grow and Promote Your Morton's List Inner Circle, covering all aspects of having the best Inner Circle possible. The night ends with round two of the Morton's List Grande Master's Kumite.

Saturday: Starts strong with six Quests and follows it up with the final round of the Morton's List Grande Master's Kumite, where the winners will be determined and rewarded. This is followed by the Morton's List Annual Global Inner Circle Toast, Banquet
and Karmic Gift Exchange
before the 2009 State of the Global Inner Circle - Annual Member Meeting. Here all Inner Circle members are given a chance to hear from and question The SuperiCore Group and Karmic Convergence organizers as well as address the general assembly.

Beyond the official event track, after parties and various events will be going on every night. ComFest, a free arts, music and community festival, is happening all weekend long, within easy walking distance. Sunday is a free-for-all day. No one knows what will happen on this day, but flavor certainly will.

Some of you were there in July, 2001 to experience the very first Quest. In October, 2006, others came from near and far to the very first Karmic Gathering in Detroit. It is no exaggeration to say that The First Annual Karmic Convergence will be legendary – the only question is will you be there to experience this groundbreaking event, or will you epic fail?

Events Details to follow...
Note: Event Description and info is the same as it appears in the Origins guide.

Is Anyone Heading to Origins that may pass through Central Illinois? If so I could use a ride and would pay for gas for the trouble.

If I make it, which is very possible, I would be heading right through central Illinois... How far are you from I-70?

I will not be passing through Central IL. I may be taking the train. However I would like to share a room with someone. I'll sleep on an air mattress on the floor if I have to. My girlfriend might be coming, too.

What is this high level pass that is mentioned in the event costs?

Nevermind I reread the other section.

It's Amtrak, actually... and I don't think they service Columbus, despite what was posted.

Where exactly? Champaign area? If I drive that only adds an extra hour and a half to my trip. Plus that gives me a place to crash for a while if I'm too tired to continue driving.
